The first-generation RX-7, sold as Savanna RX-7 in Japan, used a front-mid-mounted 12A twin-rotor making about 100 hp in US trim. Weighing under 2,500 pounds with near-ideal weight distribution and pop-up headlights, it was the lightest RX-7 ever and made affordable rotary sports motoring mainstream.
